What Your Training Looks Like

PADI Scuba Diver Komodo Course Structure

If you’re visiting Komodo and have 2 days to spare, the PADI Scuba Diver Komodo course is ready for you. To earn your certification, you’ll complete three key components:

  1. Self-Study: Complete the first 3 of 5 modules from the PADI Open Water Diver course online at your own pace.
  2. Confined Water Training: Learn essential scuba skills in a controlled environment. You’ll complete the first 3 of 5 confined water dives from the Open Water program, building confidence and mastering basic techniques.

Open Water Dives: Put your skills into practice in Komodo’s stunning underwater world. You’ll complete 2 of the 4 Open Water dives from the Open Water course, exploring vibrant marine life, including pelagics, under the supervision of a PADI professional.

Your day begins with self-study of the assigned online knowledge development videos and sections, which should be completed before your arrival. Upon arrival, your PADI Instructor will review your work, go through the online forms, answer any questions, and conduct a brief assessment to ensure you’ve grasped the material.

Once the theory is complete, it’s time for your confined water training. Your instructor will first explain and demonstrate how to use the basic scuba diving equipment. Then, you’ll have hands-on practice in the pool until you feel confident and comfortable with your skills.

Today is where the adventure truly begins — it’s open ocean time! You’ll take everything you practiced in the pool and apply it in the open water, surrounded by the vibrant marine life of Komodo. During the day, you’ll complete 2 open water dives at sites carefully chosen to match your skill level and comfort. Each dive will be partly skills-focused and partly exploration-focused, giving you both confidence and the thrill of discovery. Be prepared to marvel at the colorful reef fish and, if lucky, encounter some of Komodo’s majestic pelagics.

After completing your dives, we’ll return to the dive center where you will be officially certified as a PADI Scuba Diver Komodo
