PADI Drift Diver Komodo – Course Structure

Your PADI Drift Diver Komodo course begins with a short classroom review session. Your instructor will go through your self-study materials and verify your online forms before heading out for the practical part of your training. Once the review is complete, it’s time for two exhilarating drift dives. During the pre-dive briefing, your instructor will explain the skills you’ll practice underwater and how to apply proper drift-diving techniques in real current conditions. The focus is on staying relaxed, maintaining control, and letting the ocean carry you effortlessly.

Drift diving offers incredible benefits:

  • You conserve energy
  • You cover a much larger area
  • You encounter far more marine life

Sites like Shot gun are famous for strong currents and spectacular encounters. Here, divers often see pelagic species such as giant trevallies, dogtooth tuna, and even the legendary Manta Rays. Of course, drift diving also presents challenges. Currents can be unpredictable, and conditions may include downcurrents or rapid changes. Your instructor will teach you how to assess the water before entering, how to manage different current patterns, and how to stay safe by diving with knowledgeable local guides.
