Many divers ask, “How deep have you gone?”—and for good reason. There’s something uniquely thrilling about exploring deeper waters. Whether it’s accessing deeper wrecks, encountering marine life that prefers the depths, or chasing the challenge itself, deep diving opens a whole new world of adventure.

With the PADI Deep Diver Komodo course, you’ll gain the skills, confidence, and knowledge to safely dive down to 40 meters/130 feet. You’ll learn essential deep-dive gas management, problem-solving techniques at depth, and the use of additional procedures and equipment required for safe deep diving.

PADI Drift Diver Komodo – Course Structure

Your PADI Drift Diver Komodo course begins with a short classroom review session. Your instructor will go through your self-study materials and verify your online forms before heading out for the practical part of your training. Once the review is complete, it’s time for two exhilarating drift dives. During the pre-dive briefing, your instructor will explain the skills you’ll practice underwater and how to apply proper drift-diving techniques in real current conditions. The focus is on staying relaxed, maintaining control, and letting the ocean carry you effortlessly.

Drift diving offers incredible benefits:

  • You conserve energy
  • You cover a much larger area
  • You encounter far more marine life

Sites like Blue Corner are famous for strong currents and spectacular encounters. Here, divers often see pelagic species such as giant trevallies, dogtooth tuna, and even the legendary Oceanic Manta Rays. Of course, drift diving also presents challenges. Currents can be unpredictable, and conditions may include downcurrents or rapid changes. Your instructor will teach you how to assess the water before entering, how to manage different current patterns, and how to stay safe by diving with knowledgeable local guides.
By the end of the day, you’ll feel confident, skilled, and ready to enjoy all the thrilling drift dives that the PADI Drift Diver Komodo specialty unlocks.
